If you have submitted a guess for the disease or its cure to 1003, please add it to this thread so we may keep track of what has been sent in. This will help us rule out ideas and keep us from submitting duplicates.

I guess I’ll get the ball rolling. Here’s what I sent:
Audrey is genetically immune to the blindness. Her DNA could be studied to find the gene that causes the immunity, and the nature of the immunity could be replicated. If, for example, Audrey’s gene produced a chemical compound that prevented the effects of the blindness, that compound could be synthetically replicated and distributed.

submitted just now… (7:07pmEST) to 1003@iamblind.org
The blindness seems to be spreading through a parasitic infection that’s affecting the normal activity of the pupils. When studying pictures obtained from the Gold Ward, where Audrey’s sister (also immune) is depicted with red eyes, it seem she may have conjunctivitis. By having blind Ward members wear the protective glasses, it’s unlikely that might contract conjunctivitis themselves. It’s my belief that conjunctivitis present in Audrey’s sister (and likely Audrey through close contact before separation) is the reason behind their immunity to the White Sickness. Conjunctivitis may counteract the parasitic elements in the eye and help the blind see again. Afterward, simple treatment for conjunctivitis would present any serious effects it might cause in the long term.
